A Paradigm Shift Regarding Social Anxiety

I've heard it said that in order to overcome your fears, you have to face them head on and over and over again until you get used to what you used to fear.

So I decided I want to create a YouTube Channel as well as this blog. I am having a blast just researching everything and learning how to make/edit videos. I'm so excited to overcome so many of my weaknesses. I struggled my whole life with Social Anxiety and General Anxiety Disorder. Creating this blog and a YouTube Channel will be my way of working through many of these issues. I am not really expecting that many people to read this blog or watch my YouTube Channel. I am sure it won't be that interesting, because It's only about my life. But it will help me with learning how to communicate and face the fear of being judged. Actually, the YouTube Channel will be Tech Tutorials. When starting a YouTube Channel, it helps to have a lot of material to work with, so it has to be a subject I know a lot about.

Banner Year for Weight Loss

Going into the new year, I'm starting in a good place. This year I will be 11 years sober, I'm venturing out and trying to learn new things (classes as mentioned in my previous blog post), started a blog and I've lost 58 lbs. since June 23rd. I have about 30 lbs. to go. This isn't the first time I've lost a bunch of weight. Back in 2007, I lost about 50 lbs.but gained it all back. In 2014, I lost 81+ lbs., and again, gained it all back. Let's hope this third time is a charm.

Each time I lost the weight, CICO (calories in/ calories out)  has been my weight loss method of choice each time. I have used the "My Net Diary" App to keep track of pretty much every calorie, and it has never failed me. Of course, I also exercise, and use "Map My Walk" to calculate calories burned. Where I keep dropping the ball is the maintenance of my weight after I reach the goal. So, inevitably, I have to ask myself, "What will be different this time?"

Exploring my creative side?

So here I am writing my first blog post. I doubt anyone will even see this, but I want to put myself out there and try it. Why not?

This year I wanted to try some new things. It all began with an urge to start a YouTube Channel, one that I've yet to create. I'm an Introvert with Social Anxiety, so what could go wrong, right? Watching other people's YouTube Channels, I couldn't help but think that it looked like so much fun to make... there's something so liberating and exiting about putting yourself out there, facing your fears. It was after reading a few studies indicating that everybody has the ability to be creative, that I decided to go for it. It's just like any other skill you have to hone. You have to exercise those muscles.

I signed up for quite a few "at your own pace" type classes. Udemy had a New Years Sale, so I jumped on the opportunity. I chose all kinds of "Creative" Classes (Video Editing, Photography, 3D Modeling, Drawing, e…
